Home / Careers
A capped busy season, clients you keep year over year, and a partner track with criteria written down rather than implied. We staff below the industry utilization standard on purpose.
We are less profitable per person than a firm of our size could be. That is a deliberate choice: we carry more staff against the same client base so that busy season has a ceiling and continuity is actually possible.
What you get from that is the same clients returning to you each year. You stop relearning businesses and start understanding them, which is the difference between compliance work that grinds and advisory work that is genuinely interesting.
What you give up is the brand name on the CV and the very largest engagements. If that trade appeals, the conversation is worth having. If it does not, a national firm will serve you better and we will say so.
Everything below is written into the handbook rather than described at interview and quietly forgotten in February.
We cap chargeable hours during busy season and staff to make the cap real. It is the reason our January to April retention is what it is.
Review course paid, exam fees reimbursed, study leave granted, and a bonus on passing. No clawback if you leave afterwards.
You keep your clients year over year. Expertise compounds, and so does the relationship, which is far more satisfying work.
Two days in the office, three wherever suits. Fieldwork travel within New England, rarely overnight.
Three of the current managers joined as associates. The criteria are written down and reviewed with you annually, not implied.
Firm-paid medical and dental, 401(k) with match, twenty-five days of leave plus the week between Christmas and New Year.
Applications go directly to a partner, not to a queue. Expect a reply within a week, including if the answer is no.

Two-year rotation across tax, assurance and client accounting before choosing a bench, with full CPA exam support throughout.
No case study written over a weekend, and no panel of nine. We will tell you where you stand after each stage.

Send a CV and a paragraph about what you want the next three years to look like. A cover letter written for us is worth more than one written for everyone.

Mutual. You should be interviewing us as hard as we are interviewing you, particularly about busy season, because that is where firms differ most.
Two hours, in the office
A technical discussion appropriate to the level, then time with the people you would work beside every day, without a partner in the room.

Compensation band, review cycle and progression criteria in writing. We do not counter-offer against ourselves and we do not expect you to negotiate blind.
We hire ahead of need when the right person appears. A short note explaining what you want to be doing is enough to start.
