Books to trial balance
October to January
We reconcile the year before any tax work begins. Anything that would surprise us in March surfaces in November instead, while it can still be fixed cleanly.

Federal and state returns for C corporations, S corporations and partnerships, prepared from books we have already reconciled, reviewed by a partner who read the working papers, and filed ahead of the deadline.
Annual federal and state income tax returns for operating entities and their owners, with all supporting schedules, owner K-1 and K-3 packages, and quarterly estimates.
It stops being boring when the return is the first time anyone has looked closely at the year, when a distribution turns out to have exceeded basis, when an accrual was booked and never reversed, or when a state you started shipping into eighteen months ago has quietly been waiting for a filing.
We prepare returns from a trial balance we have already reconciled, not from a file that arrives in March. Book-to-tax differences are tracked through the year in a schedule you can actually read, so nothing has to be reconstructed from memory at the deadline.
Every return is prepared by a named senior, reviewed by a manager, and signed by a partner who has read the working papers rather than skimmed the summary. Owners receive their K-1s with a one-page note explaining what moved since last year and what it means for their individual return.
If you are transitioning from another firm, we request the prior files, rebuild anything that needs rebuilding, and reconcile opening balances before the first return goes out under our name. That work is included in the first-year fee, not billed as a surprise.
Everything below is named in the engagement schedule with an owner and a date. Nothing is quoted hourly.
Federal income tax returns for C corporations, S corporations and partnerships, including consolidated and combined filing groups.
Composite returns, pass-through entity elective filings, franchise and excise returns in every state where you have an obligation.
Owner schedules issued with a plain-English cover note and delivered before the individual deadline, not after it.
Federal and state estimates recalculated each quarter against actual results, rather than defaulting to last year’s safe harbour.
A maintained M-1 or M-3 schedule showing every difference, where it came from, and when it reverses.
Filed deliberately and paid correctly, so an extension stays an extension instead of becoming a penalty notice.
The reason our returns go out early is that the work does not start in tax season. It starts before the year has closed.

A named senior
The same preparer year over year. Year two is faster than year one, and year three is faster still, because nobody is relearning your chart of accounts.
Before you see a draft
A partner reads the working papers, not just the return. Open questions come to you once, as a single consolidated list, rather than in a drip of emails.
Ahead of the deadline
Signed returns, K-1s, payment vouchers and a short memo on what is worth changing before next year begins.
These sit next to each other for a reason: most engagements draw on two or three of them at once.
